Back to Life: Where I’ve been….Vancouver Fashion Week F/W 2016

I’ve made it! And I’ve made it back….I’m in the throws of catching up after my debut showcase at Vancouver Fashion Week… was amazing and a success!

I had the most amazing models to work with. They were too beautiful and I hope to see them again in the future. They truly made my collection come to life. I can say with all true certainty that there’s nothing like seeing your collection walk the runway. It is the most satisfying feeling after the pits of unpacking your crap, finding hangars, getting belts that were a pair and are now suddenly a single found, remembering if you have the pins and also the sticky tapes for fittings, and crying when you can’t find a parking spot in time to unload anywhere close to the venue. I was only too happy to have it done….but then I wanted to know when I’d go again.

I’ve had the good fortune of being invited to showcase in various shows since then and even just prior to going to Vancouver. I was approached by Georgia Peach Fashion Week which is going on right now in Atlanta and I wasn’t able to participate because I’d already signed up for Vancouver and I knew it’d be too difficult to turn around due to time constraints and get down there in time. Although I wouldn’t mind being double booked at all. It would’ve been my first show States side. I was also invited to show at the SFU Fashion Week in Vancouver this year, but it didn’t work out. Later this year I am expecting to show again in Portland Oregon at FashionNXT in the Fall 2016. I’m looking forward to planning my designs for the show. Recycled jersey is on the menu again I believe, but I have a strong desire to design tent dresses. I think they’re going to make a resurgence and we’ll have a little return to the 60’s and 70’s and a homage to Twiggy that will be only too cool. I want to be a part of it. It’s the vibe I’m getting.
